Underneath the street lights

Three street lamps light up one by one.
The only three on the road.
The first one shows me your beautiful face.
The second the honesty in your eyes.
The last the declaration of love, sitting on your lips.
I stay in the shadows.
Hoping that I can hide my betrayal in the darkness.

  1. Interesting. It links with 'Rhapsody on a Windy Night'. I like the simplicity of it and the repetitions. Are you naturally inclined to experiment in poetry?

  2. To be honest, I'm not so hot on experimental writing because whilst in some cases it works, there are times when I'm like "argghhhh that's not poetry at all". For instance, I have been looking at some of the sound poems this week and I know that I would find it hard to recreate something like this because to me it's not a conventional poem
